Of course we have a purpose on earth, of course there is a reason for our birth. If we do not realize this reason then not only will we suffer here on earth, but we will take rebirth again and again. The purpose of our life is to escape from the cycle of death and rebirth. The purpose of our life is to realize who we are. Are we this body? This body grew up from a single cell zygote inside our mother's womb. One day this body will grow, one day it will die. How can I be this body that people will burn or bury because it is not really me? If not the body, then is it the ME that I am, the mind and ego? But where is the mind and ego? It is an illusion. I am the Divine Soul. To realize this is the purpose of our life, then to be liberated and to be united with the Divine. That is life's purpose, LIFE is Liberation from Ignorance and Finding Enlightenment.

God made anthropomorphic beings like God for friendship and company and to talk and share with:-

Gen 1:26-27 KJV And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: ....... [v. 27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

After the Fall, things were radically different from what they were before: Adam and Eve now hid from and were frightened of God, didn't want to talk with God, and had to be searched for by God.

Gen 3:7-9 KJV And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. [v. 8] And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. [v. 9] And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?

This means that before the Fall they were not frightened of God, did not hide from but instead looked for God, and did want to talk with God, and had to be searched for by God:

Before the Fall, Adam was told to have lots of children, to have dominion over the earth, and by implication of what God said after the Fall before the Fall Adam and Eve would have been told to be completely obedient to what God had said and not to listen to anyone else:-

Gen 1:27-31 KJV So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. [v. 28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. [v. 29] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. [v. 30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. [v. 31] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

Gen 3:17 KJV And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, andhast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;

This means that according to Genesis God wanted companionship and obedience.

Jewish Answer

Through the story of creation and the rest of the Tanach (Jewish Bible), we are taught that man was created to work with HaShem in completing the creation of the world. We do this by bringing justice into the world and making it as good as possible.

HaShem never wanted blind obedience, we know this because He gave us freewill. Throughout the Tanach, we repeatedly read how great people argued with HaShem and HaShem accepted those arguements.

Please note that the idea of "the fall" is purely Christian in origin and has no place in Judaism, Tanach, and Talmud.

Yes. Our purpose is to interrupt the cyclical occurrence of ice ages through the extensive release of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and methane. This will not only bring about mass extinctions - as did the ice ages - but promote the evolution of new species and favor the survival of existing ones, such as the Methanotrophs (sometimes called methanophiles - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Methanotroph).

According to Muslim belief, no one is put on this earth for Jesus. Jesus Christ was a prophet of God just like the prophets before him and the one after him (peace be upon them all).

Jesus, again, just like all the other prophets, rejected the idea that he was a divine figure. Instead he insisted to the people that they should worship the One God alone who is the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe (Mark 12:29).

With that said our purpose on this earth should be to live lives of faith, righteousness and submission to the will of the One God who alone is worth of worship without any partners. Through this we will earn our eternal lives in paradise.

Like a wise man once said:

"Whoever said - None has the right to be Worshipped but God - and has in his heart good faith equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell"
