Normally a rusty rotor would not make a grinding noise. A grinding noise from the brakes usually indicated that the pads or shoes are worn down.
If you hear the squealing when applying the brakes, the pads are worn out and need replacing ASAP. Failure to replace the pads immediately will result in worn out rotors which will also need replacing. If the squealing noise is not when braking it may be a worn drive belt.
This is often caused by installing new pads on worn or slightly worn rotors. Buying new rotors or turning the same rotors would make a smooth surface for the new pads to rub against. Any surface that is less than smooth will cause some grinding for a few days or maybe longer. It also shortens the life of your new pads.
Sounds like the brake pads - shoes are worn down to medal and cutting into the rotors and drums. Need to pull all 4 wheels off and check the brakes.
A dodge caravan may be experiencing rear brake noise due to needing new brake pads. This may also be due to worn rotors.
Rotors are worped most likely
When they get sloppy and worn they can.
Volvo pads and rotors are the best ones to use. Most aftermarket pads and rotors seem to make braking noise
usually it will to the brake pads wear a little or it could be your rotors
Usually this is caused by worn out brake pads. There are 'squealers' on them that begin to make contact with your rotors after the pads are almost worn out, causing them to make a very unpleasant noise. Continue to drive the vehicle for very long after it squeaks and you'll begin to do expensive damage to your rotors. You can replace them yourself for about $60 in parts if you know what you're doing in about 20 minutes, or take it to a shop and be charged a few hundred dollars.
Mine doesn't but if your does you may want to check your car's brake pads to see if they are worn down. That growling noise could be the metal pads making contact with the rotors. If that's not the problem, check your fuel tank. There may be a tiger in there.
Pads or shoes worn beyond usable. Replace pads and rotors or shoes and drums as needed.
