In doing a bit of research, I've found a couple of articles that state that women do burn more calories during certain phases of their cycle than in others. A medical doctor with a weight loss practice in New York says that you can burn up to 359 more calories, depending where you are in your cycle. Another piece of research from a Pennsylvania study showed that women expended more energy during their luteal phase. However, based on another North Carolina study, the effect might be minimal.
