It's called bulimia (bull-EE-mee-ah)and it can be a very serious eating disorder leading to malnutrition, damage to your esohpagus and tooth enamel and death. At the core of most eating disorders is a body image issue. Counseling and a doctor's supervision is imperative to overcome the disorder. There's no shame in having it and you're far from alone. Talk to someone -- your parents, a friend, school counselor -- so that you stop burying the secret. There's help and there's a much happier way of life. Good luck. Answer: what its called depends on how much you purge, you said off and on for 2 years, are you purging once or twice a week or more? how long do these episodes last (days, weeks etc)? are you binging (eating large amounts of food in one sitting (1-2 hours 2000 cals or more)? or are you purging small amounts to normal sized meals?
This sounds more like ED-NOS (eating disorder not otherwise specified) than bulimia nervosa. But like they said above its extremely important you talk to a trusted ADULT to help you.
Depending on one's behavior other than purging, self-induced vomiting can be a sign of bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa (purging subtype), or eating disorder not otherwise specified (ed-nos). The DSM V may also include a new eating disorder called Purging Disorder.
This eating disorder is called anorexia.
That Eating Disorder is called Bulimia Nervosa and only a doctor can diagnose you. If I were you I'd stay as far away from any ED as you can!!! They are lifelong and can kill you.
Catharsis
Purging is when you vomit what you just ate. This is a sign of an eating disorder called Bulimia. When you re-eat what you have just thrown up (which is disgusting and un-santitary, that is called regurgitation.)
Bingeing or binge eating, which ever one you like. But they both mean the same thing.
A bineg eating disorder is where a person continually "binge" eats. This means that they eat excessive, large amounts of food in a relatively short period of time. This food is usually not very healthy. As a result, there can be weight problems, health problems related to obesity, the likelyhood of developing bulimia (to purge after such bingeing), and depression.
