yes you do actually in order to get to the timing chain you have to remove your belts and draining the coolant from the car would be good too as you have to go through the water pump to get to it.sometimes removing a wheel or two will make it easier once you get to the timing chain get the chain off and both sprockets make sure u remember where the dots on the sprockets are because the new ones have to have the dots in the same exact positions as the old ones were in the installation after that is just the reverse of taking it off
