i refused it in my situaltion
at my last appontment being 36 weeks and having a reading of 4.2 of sugar i was told that i needed the test and to come up in 3 days time i was told to starve myself the night before and only drink water then after the test was done i would need to sit about for 3 hours then drink a bottle and half of lucozade.
then after explaining to the midwife that i cannot drink it as it makes me sick i was ignored and told to come up anyway and that i would just need to hold my nose and drink it over to which i responded that no in fact i did not as i was refusing the test.

There is a simple test for diabetes. I recommend getting a blood test done at your physicians to determine the exact medication you need. But there is some simply over the counter test as well.
Diabetes test strips are used to test the level of blood sugar in a diabetic's blood. By pricking the fingertip and applying the blood droplet to the test strip the blood sugar is red by the monitor.

Having a diabetes test is quick, easy and usually painless. Your doctor will order a simple blood test. Blood will be drawn and then sent to a lab to measure your body's glucose level.
A blood test for diabetes measures the amount of glucose in the blood. Normal readings are between 70 and 100. Higher levels may indicate diabetes. A good explanation can be found at http://diabetes.webmd.com/guide/diagnosing-type-2-diabetes.
