It is best. Here is why. There are two major websites for repair info, on that vehicle. The official GM website, and an outside company called All Data. I used All Data, when I got an off make, that I didn't have factory support for. So, I cannot imagine they would have all of the upgrades to the software that the official site would. We had to actually download data from the GM site, to the onboard computer. This is one thing I would not cut corners on. There are even regional differences, that are taken into consideration. Say your vehicle was bought in San Diego, but then ended up in Colorado. The needs of a vehicle differ, for the two regions, so the local Chevy dealer would have upgrades, key to that region.
You can't. Have the dealer do it.
who can flash 1998 chevy cavailer computer?
You can't. Only a dealer or a shop with the proper equipment can "flash" the computor.
Can only be done by dealer. needs to be up to a computer and to a satellite connection.
you cannot jump the computer terminals on a vehicle with the OBD2 computer unlike the original OBD. you must check codes with a computer tester. very cheap at autozone--bought mine for $25.00.
The dealer can "flash" the computer for any up dates or changes but it is not possible to do this yourself.
The local Dodge dealer does a stock reflash for $115 I am having my hot rod computer done for $450
The dealer "flashes" the computer to correct software issues.
Usually the fuse is going bad.
