Do you have to register your iPod on iTunes before you can sync your iPod if not how do you sync it?

If you don't want to sync, you can trick iTunes. Just check off the box on your device summary on iTunes that says "automatically manage media". This will allow you to click and drag songs from iTunes onto your device. No worrying about checks next to songs anymore.
