No you do not. After removing the black light cover counter clockwise, pull out 1 inch and bring topside. Carefully remove the wire clips from the bulb and then carefully remove the clips holding the bulb in socket by dislodging them by pressing together at the same time if possible. Now Carefully remove the new bulb from packaging and try not to touch the glass part with bare hands and leave any oil or dirt on lens.
Actully hold with tissue and reconnect wires, put in socket, clip back ( make sure the clips snap back in place. Test light prior to replacing the black light cover. I forgot to mention to check the wires on the clips. I am sure the bulbs have been replaced before and some people just yank things instead of being careful especially if they are on the clock. Use electrical tape if they are exposed or frayed
Passenger side go in from under the hood and find the socket. Remove it and replace the bulb. Drivers side is a different story. You have to remove the battery to get at the socket.
As long as the headlight are turned off, you do not have to disconnect the battery.
