yes sorry
On the 3.5 intrepid engine, the water pump is run by the timing "belt"- no timing chain on this motor. Not sure about the 3.3 motor. On the 3.3L the water pump is driven by the serpentine belt.

It is inside the front of the engine, driven by the timing chain.

3.3L it is serpentine belt driven.
If it's the same as my 97 3.5L it is located behind the timing cover. This is a 3 piece cover. Remove all 3 pieces, remove timing belt, and you can change water pump. Make sure not to mess timing up while your in there. I missed it by one tooth and had to go back in to fix it.

The 3.3 it runs off of the serpentine belt. The 3.5 it runs off of the timing belt.
3.3L, it is external and driven by the serpentine belt. 3.5L it is internal and driven by the timing belt.
Where can I get a diagram of a 1996 Dodge Intrepid cooling system?
