You want have to replace it unless it is defective. If you have the fluid and filter changed every 36,000 miles and never allow the transmission to overheat, it should last 150,000 miles. The cost to repair or replace will run from $1200 to $1800 depending on where you live and who does it. Stay away from any chain transmission shops. Dealer or a reputable independent are you best bets.
