its takes 2500ml in the engine with filter and 300 ml in transfer case.
On a thin plate next to the crank case.
The oil fill is on the right side of the engine below the carb on the upper part of the case.
If something else is wrong. My chain slipped and went through the crank case and destroyed the engine. But it was old. I've heard of this happening on other Yamaha's, so maybe their timing chains need to be replace sooner. not sure
650cc. Recommended volume is stamped into the side of the engine case above the kick starter.
There is a sight glass on the side of the engine. With the bike sitting level, the oil should be between the two marks on the engine case beside the sight glass.
You can't do it, unless you want to pull the engine and split the case. The puller is the only way to grab the drive pinion.

On the early 80's Viragos 81-83 the speedometer cable attaches to the front wheel and go's up behind the headlight into the speedometer. The gauges them selves attach to the triple trees via bolts. You'll have to take the headlight out of it's case to dissconnect the wiring for them though.
PW 80 is a 2 stroke. It does not have oil in the crank case. I think you mean transmission oil. I use 10w40 engine oil in mine and it works great.
