Can Supervisors join TIP for re-training?

No. TIP exists to prepare contributors to become Supervisors, not provide a crash course to existing Supervisors. If you are a Supervisor and would like to re-train or have a quick crash-course to remind you of the Supervisor tools and procedures, you should get in touch with the Mentoring Program. The Mentoring Program is headed by Jsarino and Ganderton.

How does mentoring program differ from an induction program?

For WikiAnswersThe mentoring program differs from an induction program based on the fact that mentoring is an optional program. A contributor or SPA (Special Project Assistant) who moves onto the Supervisor level can opt to never join the mentoring program. However, some extra programs on Answers.com, such as Vandal Patrol, typically require (not mandatory) that a Supervisor graduate from the mentoring program before joining. So, the bottom line is, that unlike an induction ceremony, mentoring is completely optional and you can still remain a Supervisor.ElsewhereAn induction program gives newcomers to an organisation a basic insight to how the organisation operates. What is aims are and the basic safety policy. The structure of management and where to find assistance.Depending on the size and what the organisation does it should not take more than an hour or so.A mentoring program differs insomuch that you are assigned an experienced member of staff who you can go to and who will guide you over long term. Your mentor will help with the large and small things that we all need to know when we start a new job, subject or position. They will point out the mistakes that can be made and help you avoid them. They can also show you how and why you went wrong if you do.

Do you have to be a supervisor to join the mentoring program?

The Mentoring Program was established to help new Supervisors learn to use their new Super Powers, and to learn about the Super Community, but you don't have to be a Supervisor to ask a Mentor for help. All Mentors are ready and willing to help contributors and Supervisors alike when a problem comes up, or if they need help in any way.

What happens when I graduate from TIP?

When you graduate from TIP, you will recieve a TIP graduation badge and then it is a waiting game. The Community Assistants will take a look at your history and contributions and discuss amongst them whether you will be a good asset to the Supervisor team. If they are impressed with you, you will recieve an email inviting you to the Supervisor team. Once you join the Supervisor team, you are automatically enrolled in another program called the Mentoring Program. Somewhat similar to TIP, the Mentoring Program teaches new Supervisors how to use the Supervisor tools and the Supervisor procedures. In between missions you should ideally continue to contribute to the site, to show that you are capable of doing things independently without instruction, increasing your chances of being invited to be a Supervisor. These meetings between the Community Assistants take place around once a week, so please be patient. Impatience is not a good thing when trying to become a Supervisor.
