That said, if you are getting most of your calories from protein, a la the Atkins diet, this throws certain bodily systems out of whack and does cause weight loss. On the whole though, you'd do better eating a low calorie, balanced diet, with lots of leafy vegetables (but no salad dressing). The thermogenics don't have much bearing on the question. They are going to have the same relative effect regardless of what you are eating.
