Never leave a car running! After driving it let it cool for short period, take a rag and pull dipstick. Wipe dipstick, re-enter it, and then check level on dipstick. Should show a level on dipstick. If you don't see anything it is probably very low and you should not drive in this condition. Add oil until a level is seen on dipstick that say hot or cold or a line with arrows that show not more than this point.
