noooo you dont :) i have kinect.. when you plug the kinect for your console it asks you for update and when you press YES UPDATE MY CONSOLE, it asks you to insert the disk that came with your kinect(kinect adventures disk) and when you insert the disk the console updates itself.. :) no update from the internet needed... enjoy and i recommend buying it, it is a very cool thing..... any more questions send me to: gabondiego@gmail.com

The kinect will connect to all Xbox 360's. With the older models, you will need to attach the power supply (included). The Xbox 360 S does not need this power supply.
