I can only speak from my experience with the two Chrysler minivans I have owned over the years. Automatic transmissions are a weak spot in these otherwise very good vehicles.
My first one, with a 1992 with the 3.3 V6 and 4 preed automatic, I only changed the pan gasket, fluid, and filter. The first transmission went at 80,000 miles and again at 162,000. My second is a 1998 with the same engine and transmission. I have had it flushed it at the local quick lube place every 50,000 miles and now, at 134,000, I am (knock on wood!) still on the original transmission.
Is this what is doing the trick - who knows? I still change the Transmission Fluid the normal way in all my other vehicles and haven't had any transmission failures in many years. This collection includes a Suburban, Dakota, and a Celebity. At $100 for a flush, it is a lot cheaper than a trans.
Atf3 or Atf4 is the transmission fluid for a dodge caravan.

'95 dodge caravan tranny has blown and need to remove circulation pump with tourque converter to transfer to '94 tranny, but can't get pump out of '95. How do i remove tranny circulation pump without damaging it?
The computer has detected a malfunction and set a trouble code. You need to have it checked for codes.
If it is a 4 speed transmission, you will need to have the transmisson computer checked for codes to know causes. If a 3 speed transmission, you have a failure in the governor system inside the transmission.
You first need to have your electrical system on your transmission solenoid packs checked out to be diagnosed properly. It may be an electrical issue, or a bad solenoid pack on the transmission.
hi the speed sensor on a 96 caravan is located right under the air filter and on the transmission to replace it you just need to remove the air filterand you will see it on top of the tranny.
A warning light means that the system has detected a malfunction and set a trouble code. You need to have it checked with a scan tool.
