Usually when you 1st download TF2(if you havent already) you are required to download steam. once you download steam and make a account. open up TF2 and you should be ready. Also.....you need internet. although you could use bots which dont move or shoot. The game can only really be played online. If your using a 360 or ps3 you need to have a xbox live account. and your ps3 online

This is false Steam has free games that you can download at anytime the only downside to not buying a game with steam is that you cant send friend requests, but you can receive them.

If you downloaded the game, no. If you purchased the game and it came with a disc, maybe. I wouldn't think that the disc is required to play, as the game associates itself with your steam account for verification.

You can try it with Crossover, or virtualization but that will only run the steam app. To actually game you are going to need to dual boot with boot camp into an XP, Vista, or Windows 7 partition.I boot into win7 for my team fortress 2 fix.
