no. you need a new key. try that first. there is a resistor on the key to prevent unauthorized keys being used or hot wiring for theft purposes. if that doesn't work, you can have your vats system fixed or replaced for about $1500.00

You will need to remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1997 Chevy Camaro ignition switch. The ignition switch will slide out. Remove the wiring harness. Reverse the process to install the new ignition switch.

The switch is on the steering column about 18 inches up from the floor. There are 2 screws that hold it on,
