No, there are websites on the internet dedicated to this, but that is both immoral and rude to steal from an indie developer. You should be glad they even give you the classic version for free. The game is only $15 for free updates, it's not a lot at all.

∙ 10y agoyes but when you download it you cant play multiplayer, you need a paid account for that, the only things you can do is play singleplayer and change your skin, to change your skin you must need a skin .png file and go to your minecraft.jar located in roaming/.minecraft, you will also need winrar or 7-zip, then you locate the file with the default skin in the file in minecraft.jar named mobs, just change out the file and there you go.

∙ 13y agoYes, there is a browser version which is found on the home page of minecraft.net, but don't click the one that says "In Browser" click "single player" or "multiplayer" which are both under "In Browser". But I don't recommend it there are no monsters or any of the fun building materials as the downloaded version. Also you can buy the full version, but that's $15.

∙ 12y agoI also have this issue. I'm told getting a friend to buy you a gift code is the only way. Hopefully when it is released in November you will be able to buy cards for it (like in rite-aid or CVS)

∙ 12y agoKind of. You can play a free, but very simplified, version on Minecraft's home page. In that version you have unlimited blocks and you destroy blocks only by clicking at them. That game is not very much like the real game, so please don't judge the game based on the free version. However, the link can be found under "Sources and related links" below this answer.
