The best way to clean this unit is to flush it out with plain water. It is done better if the unit is removed from the vehicle to do the flushing but some vehicles it is very difficult to get them out.

The heater hoses connect the block, radiator, heater core, and waterpump. To replace, drain the radiator and catch the anti-freeze for recycling. Remove the hoses and put on new hoses. It is kind of nasty but not very difficult.
The heater core is located inside the engine compartment on the passenger side at the firewall. Right on top of the cowl theres a plate that is screwed down. Remove screws and sealing rubber if it's in the way. lift off the plate. It may be glued down with some kind of sealant. You should see the whole heater core inside a kind of box. Disconnect hoses and pull it up from the top. All heater cores should be this easy.
all i can tell you is that if you got that model that comes out thru the inside of the car"YOU GOT TO TAKE OFF THE WHOLE DASHBOARD" and the bad heater core come out thru the glove box. but if you got the kind that i had (94 cartier) it came out under the hood,so a tech would have to let you know depending on what size the heater core is.

In order to get to the heater core you will have to remove the dash. If your Dodge is like mine and I am assuming that you are wanting to replace your heater core because it is bad then it will take a lot to get this job done. First you need to drain your system of coolant, remove your negative battery cable. The dash has different kind of fasteners. It is held in place with screws and clips. According to the Chilton manual it requires the ac system to be discharged and the accumulator to be removed when replacing the heater core. Connect the 2 hoses together that go into the firewall with some kind of hose coupler clamps.
Leak. What kind of liquid should be coming out? Antifreeze? Oil? And would it make the overflow for the raditor liquid bubble?
You must rock the engine foreward to remove the heater hoses. To do this you need to remove the bolts holding the torque struts to the engine. use a prybar and pull the engine foreward far enough to insert the long bolt you removed from the strut through the loop hole on the strut. This will hold the engine. Then you need to remove the sound insulators under the dash board. There is a black HVAC box under the dash, Look for the center floor vent outlet under the dash and remove it. Then You will be able to access a big square cover on the HVAC box. There is something like 8 screws that hold the cover to the box. Once the cover is removed You will find the heater core and the a/c evaporator (looks like a heater core but a little bigger). There is a plate that retains the heater core in the box. The plate is secured by a couple of bolts. remove those bolts, remove the plate, then remove the heater core. When installing new heater core, use petroleum jelly or some kind of grease like white lithium and apply it to the heater hose necks on the heater core to aide installation of heater hoses.
