It's located on the distributor. You don't have to remove the distributor to replace the sensor. Remove the air cleaner, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the distributor cap, disconnect the camshaft position sensor wiring harness, remove the distributor rotor, lift the camshaft position sensor assembly from the distributor housing Camshaft Position Sensor. Installation, Install the camshaft position sensor into the distributor. Align the sensor into the notch on the distributor housing, connect the wiring harness, reinstall the rotor, reinstall the distributor cap. Tighten the mounting screws, reinstall the air cleaner.

Do you have to remove the water pump to change spark plugs or distributor cap on 96 caprice LT1?

You do not have to replace the spark plugs, although you do have to remove the water pump to replace the distributor cap and rotor assembly on the LT1s Optispark which drives directly off the cam behind the water pump. You may even have to remove the harmonic balancer/crank pulley, not sure but be prepared for this. I know the balancer/crank pulley does have to be removed if the whole Optispark (distributor) is to be replaced.

How do you time a 95' eagle talon?

Timing a 1995 Eagle Talon is not difficult and should take about an hour to complete. Heres what you need to do: Open the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable. Locate the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft pulley. Turn the engine over so that the timing marks on the crankshaft and camshaft pulleys line up. Remove the distributor hold-down bolt and remove the distributor. Place the rotor on the number one cylinder on the distributor cap. Align the timing marks on the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys to the correct timing figures. Reinstall the distributor making sure the rotor is still in the number one cylinder position. Tighten the distributor hold-down bolt. Reconnect the negative battery cable.Once youve completed these steps you should have successfully timed your 1995 Eagle Talon.

How do you install a distribuitor cap on a 1995 caprice?

Were is the camshaft sensor on a 92 Dakota 3.9 v6?

The camshaft sensor is incorporated into what we used to call a distributor at the rear of the engine. Fairly easy to replace...just remove the distributor cap and rotor, disconnect the sensor's harness connector and remove the assembly. Note here--this is not a conventional distributor that you can "time" by moving it. The distributor itself must be in synch or misfires will result.

How do you change the timing belt on a 1996 Hyundai Elantra?

disconnect negative battery cable rotate the engine in the normal direction of rotation(clockwise)until the no.1 is TDC remove the accessory drivebelt loosen the water pump pulley bolts and then remove the water pump pulley using a chain wrench or a strap wrench to hold the crankshaft pulley, loosen the crank pulley bolt and then remove the pulley bolt and the crank pulley.Make sure that you dont move the No.1 cylinder from TDC while loosening the crank pulley bolt. After removing the crankshaft pulley remove the timing belt retainer/guide flange remove the 4 upper timing belt cover bolts and then remove the upper timing belt cover.Remove the lower timing belt cover bolts make sure that the timing belt camshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned with the top of the cylinder head if your planning to re-use the timing belt put a directional arrow indicating the normal clockwise direction of rotation on the belt remove the timing belt tensioner pulley bolt and then remove the tensioner pulley remove the timing belt remove the timing belt idler pulley bolt and then remove the idler pulley if the camshaft sprocket is damaged or must be removed to replace the camshaft seal or to strip the cylinder head for overhaul use a wrench to hold the cramshaft in place and then remove the sprocket retaining bolt. Then remove the camshaft sprocket from the end of the camshaft remove the crankshaft tioming belt sprocket
