I put foam tape between a camper top and the truck bed.
Yes you do, you wouldn't want to smear caulk all over the place.
its time to change the oil pan gasket =========================================================== That's not the only place it could be leaking engine oil Some of the things I can think of are , oil pan drain plug , oil filter gasket , crankshaft seal , there might be other places
The head gasket has failed and will need to be replaced. The head gasket seals the place where the engine block and the cylinder head meet, there are many oil and coolant passages in that area, so when the gasket blows out the coolant in the nearby passage vents into the cylinder closest to the failure point.
The exhaust manifold needs to have a gasket in place to help seal the juncture between the manifold and the engine. After the gasket and gasket sealer are in place, tighten the bolts for the exhaust manifold. The exhaust pipe can then be replaced on the new exhaust manifold.
mine was leaking pretty bad. found out that on the 3.4 engine, there had been a design change on distributor location. originally it was on the back side of engine. when they changed this, they put a 'plug' in its place. plug always starts leaking. i took mine and lifted the 'plug' and used a gasket from a distributor. had to cut one side so that you could slip it around the plug, put gasket sealer on it and my leaking has dramatically decreased. not stopped. but not putting a quart in a week. the leak is alomost non exixtent
Remove the valve cover by removing 10 mm bolts (#4) and hoses. Pry up slowly valve cover. The gasket set comes with 4 spark plug gaskets and one valve cover gasket.
When anitfreeze level drops and there is none leaking on the ground it could be a blown head gasket and is leaking into the combustion chamber and burning up causing white smoke out the exhaust. It is a major expense to repair, do not bother with additives said to correct leaks as it may cause other problems and will not correct a leaking head gasket. The other place is a leaking heater core which will leak onto the passenger seat floor and you can smell it or see a wet carpet. Anti leak additives may help here if the leak is small.
This could result from several places, such as hose, gasket, connection or axle seal. Take the car to a reputable auto repair shop to find out the exact place.
You more than likely have a valve cover gasket leaking. You can try tightening the bolts holding the valve cover in place to 20 lb/ft of torque, (do not over-tighten) and see if that stops the leak. If not, you will have to replace the gasket.
The gas place thingy
Use a plastic or wood scraper and remove it. The metal kind will scratch the surfaces. There is no specific solvent for caulk preventing removal of a shower head. It may have been used in place of the proper anti-leaking compounds. The first thing you may want to try is heating the threads with hot air (not flame) to see if the caulk will soften. There are also some solvents that may loosen its grip (any of which require great care in using!): trichloroethylene (requires adequate ventilation), acetone (polish remover), and diluted oven cleaner (skin hazard). Apply with a swab and allow to settle into the threads.
my grand am had an engine knocking noise. it was the intake manifold gasket was going bad. it was leaking coolant into my oil. look at your oil to see if it is a white milky color. if it is then you need a new manifold gasket which sucks. it takes a long time to do by yourself. or you can take it to a place that charges you $1000 to do. but if you can. do it yourself
