I do support it, although I wish it had included a Public Option. But that said, the president's effort to reform healthcare in the United States has been very controversial. Many of the ideas that became "Obamacare" were originally proposed by the Republicans, especially by an organization called the Heritage Foundation, and were implemented first in Massachusetts by then-governor Mitt Romney. Unfortunately, politics being what it is, the moment President Obama wanted to do something similar, the majority of the Republicans turned against it and spread a wide range of false statements about it (no, there are no "death panels" in the law, no it does not exempt Muslims, etc).
While the law is not perfect, it was intended to give uninsured Americans more options. The jury is still out on whether the law will in fact succeed, but at this point, it has definitely improved access for a large number of people, especially those with pre-existing conditions who were refused coverage before. Still, opposition to it remains strong, and the debate about it shows no sign of abating. I enclose a link to the history of the Affordable Care Act, including what it does and does not do.
