Cleaning a Tokarev gun is simple. All you have to do is have the cleaning supplies and take it apart.
No need to for regular cleaning.
Unitl you define how far down you want to take it for cleaning, the question can't be answered.
The link below will take you to the Savage Arms Company website, to the owner manual section. If your manual is not listed, contact Savage to see if a reprint is available. In general, buy a .22 caliber cleaning kit (bore rod, bore brush, patch holder, patches, powder solvent, oil) and follow the instructions. Gun shops and most department stores will have a basic cleaning kit. ALWAYS be sure that a firearm is unloaded. Avoid overcleaning, over oiling, and taking things apart that you do not know how to reassemble unless you have a large vocabulary of curse words.
Recommend you ask a gunsmith for help and watch
Use the Owners manual for safe cleaning and breakdown instructions. They are available at the Browning link below and it is free.
There are about 69 in the a1 and about 76 in the a2 and a3 models.
It doesn't need to be taken apart for normal cleaning and maintenance. If you really feel the need to take it apart, get this book: "The S&W Revolver: A Shop Manual" Book by Jerry Kuhnhausen
Ask a gunsmith for assistance or call S&W.

In general, revolvers are not intended to be taken apart for routine cleaning and maintenance. I would strongly suggest that you contact a qualified gunsmith for assistance if needed. They are MUCH easier to take apart than to put back together again.
