No. Ram has never offered an Allison transmission. The options in 2009 were 68RFE Chrysler transmission and as68rc Aisian Seiki transmission.
Allison transmissions are often mated to Cummins engines in medium- and heavy duty trucks.
They often are, in medium and heavy duty applications.
well people that have been in the rectiona time have non the way people have lived but to be shora that they don't inporve them test the answer so don't be afird of the stuff
The new 2011 Ford Super Duty. It has the 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo Diesel V8 mated to a 6-speed Heavy Duty Torqshift Transmission that doesn't have to be serviced until 150,000 MILES! 'Diesel Power' magazine recognized the new 6-speed to be the 'Allison Killer!' This setup makes a class leading 400 horsepower and 800 pound feet of torque.
The "Dodge" diesel is actually a Cummins heavy truck engine. With proper maintenance, it should last about 250,000 miles. The injectors will need replacing every 100,000 miles.
The trans and power steering have nothing to do with vacuum.

They have good power, but the engine is very heavy. They have good power, but the engine is very heavy.
No. To my knowledge never have. The diesels that dodge has used have always been 6 cylinders. Now, some of the older(75ish?) heavy duty trucks (3ton and over) MIGHT have had a v8 diesel, but it would have been a cummins or a cat or detroit...
I opinion is the Dodge with the Cummins engine,I like the 5.9l my self, just because it has power plus it has great fuel mileage,if you buy a programmer like the smarty programmer it will increase both mileage and power, the 5.9l was sold through 2007 and also in 2007 Dodge started using the 6.7l Cummins ,but with all good things there has to be a bad,but as well with any truck that has over 400hp.that is all the transmission's will hold even the Allison, but if your towing often then as long as you keep your fluid clean(changed every 20,000 miles) and when servicing the transmission have the bands adjusted, even a stock transmission will last a long time, but if you program the truck for power you will need a heavy duty transmission, but that is with any diesel motor.
As far as light duty (Class 1 - 4) trucks go, just General Motors. Ford uses their own transmissions, and Dodge uses the Aisin transmission. If you look into medium- and heavy duty trucks, several manufacturers have the Allison automatic transmissions as an option (for example, you can get them with the Ford F650 and F750), but these are quite different from the transmissions used in GM light duty pickups.

I would say 500,000 is average for the engine. I do not agree about the injectors. The truck will wear out before the engine does.
