Does Gabriel appear to people now?

We don't really know at this time. The scriptures have pointed out Gabriel's appearances to us during significant events to show Christians how these events were important for us to understand God's love for us. Some theologians say no he doesn't, but then how do they really know? Only God knows because He sends this particular angel out when God wants something done.

Luke's Gospel says that Gabriel appeared to Zacharias to announce the birth of John, and to Mary to announce the impending birth of Jesus. Islam says that Gabriel also appeared to the prophet Muhammad, giving him the words of the Koran. It seems quite incredible that the same angel would bring messages that would lead to such different outcomes as Christianity and Islam: just one of a number of good reasons to doubt both claims.
In modern times, angels rarely if ever are perceived by the faithful. Catholics claim to receive the most visions, and since the eighteenth century most reported apparitions have been of the Virgin Mary. There are no reports accepted by the Church of Gabriel appearing in recent times.
