Germany is replete with famous medieval buildings and there are many beautiful variations of elevation in the country. One of the most famous and fascinating land structures in Germany is the Nördlingen Ries meteorite crater. A huge crater crashed into earth in the north of Bavaria about 16 million years ago and created a crater about 25 km or 15 miles wide. There is information about the Ries Crater Museum at:

The Speedy Turtle, an eccentric travel site, also has information about another great natural land structure in Germany - the Breitachklamm (Breitach Gorge) - a spectacular narrow flume that extends more than 1.5 miles (2.5 km) and is over 500 feet (150 m) deep. The gorge, about 10,000 years old, is one of the most impressive of its size in all of Europe.
