The doctrine is one of defense. This includes preemptive strikes if the enemy's deadly intent is known (Talmud, Berakhot 58a). The war of conquest against the Canaanites was not preemptive but was directly commanded in the Torah (Deuteronomy ch.7).

Christians did not learn about Christianity from the Jews. Christianity was founded, as a religion, by former Jews. However, by the time they were proselytizing their new faith, it was distinct from Judaism and Jewish doctrine.
The Jewish faith can be summed up on one tenet: What is hateful to you, do not do to another. That is the entire Torah. The rest is detail. Now go study.
I don't know of anybody in the Bible who wanted to keep Christianity as part of Judaism. Many people wanted to carry over elements of Judaism into Christianity. Paul's letter to the church at Galatia was written to encourage the Christians not to go back to keeping aspects of the law. After Paul had left this area, false teachers entered the churches and introduced wrong doctrine. They taught that salvation was by faith in Christ plus keeping the law. Their message was a mixture of Christianity and Judaism, of grace and law, of Christ and Moses.
Tikkun Olam (תיקון עולם) is a Hebrew phrase that means "repairing the world". It is a principle of Judaism, [but I would like to think that most religions have a similar doctrine.]

The Monroe Doctrine was in direct opposition to the Truman Doctrine. The Monroe Doctrine said the US should not interfere with events in Europe.
