Chicken producers depend on a profit to stay in business, the cheaper they can raise a chicken from hatch to market weight the more money they earn. Growth hormone can only be given by injection, feeding it to the birds does not work. A single injection of synthetic growth hormone is about $3.00 per bird, producers make less than that per bird dressed weight.
