Music has been proven by many different scientific institutions to enhance your learning capability. This depends on many things though:

* The music being listened to is not loud * The music is of a 'gentle' nature # No HipHop or Rap # No Hardcore Rock # Yes to quite entertaining music (e.g. Bob Dylan, The Beatles etc.)

Yes music greatly affects the learning of all people. Without getting too technical the predisposition of the brain for learning depends heavily on the brain wave patterns, Alpha and Beta waves. Music is believed to be a stimulant for the production of Alpha waves which are activated when the brain is in a non stressed state. Alpha wave activity in the brain permits the chemical encoding of information to occur in a context that the brain recognizes as beneficial. This is in direct opposition to Beta wave activity that is generally stress based where the brain acts on the limited information or stimulii it receives to react to the stimulii.

Supposedly, playing mozart music or something along those lines will help to increase the intellegence of the kid. However, this is not true. To be honest though, whether or not music helps with learning is person dependent. Personally, to me it would be a distraction. Hope this helps! Good question

Music can affect school work in various ways, scientists have actually proven that Classical Music helps you relax and concentrate, and a study showed that students who listenend to a piece by Mozart actually scored higher than a student who did not, another important topic about music and school work, is that not everyone listens to classical music, our generation, enjoys rock and various other types. There have been no studies that I am aware of, but if music can change your mood, I guess rock could in theory boost your confidence.

Music helps you learn and concentrate. It doesn't matter what kind of music your listening to. If you listen to the kind of music you like, then you will most likely be able to concentrate.

i.e. If your teaching a class and you have yours students working silently, but they're talking, have them listen to music. Almost 100% of the time, they will stop talking and focus on getting their work done.
