The Ring, or any other estrogen based form of Birth Control, can cause migraines. Sharp increases and decreases in estrogen are known to trigger migraines. It doesn't for all people. Some people find that birth control improves their migraines, some people finds it makes them worse. For some, it makes no difference at all. The Ring is contraindicated in those with migraine with aura, because migraine with aura also raises stroke risk.

∙ 11y agoAs a side-effect it's possible. Some women complain of nausea in the first three months of using NuvaRing. A few complain of a day or two of nausea when they start a new ring. If this side effect continues past the first three months, or if it becomes bothersome, talk with your health care provider about other birth control options.
