No, full access to the White House and use of its facilities and staff are part of his compensation for his duties as President of the United States of America.
The White House is the official residence for the president of the United States; it has always been supported and funded by American taxpayers.
Not really. It comes with the job of being president. In other words, Barack Obama lives at the White House because it is the official residence of the President of the United States; throughout history, most American presidents have lived there (George Washington did not-- it hadn't been built yet). The taxpayers are the ones who pay for the upkeep of the White House. But presidents have an expense account and a budget, and if they go over that amount, they do have to reimburse the US Treasury.
Yes and no. Presidents are allowed to live there for free; but that is the extent of what they don't have to pay for. Presidents are given a salary (currently $400,000 a year), plus a budget for expenses related to doing their job. But unrelated expenses, as well as the cost of food, parties, salaries of their staff, and bringing friends with them on vacation, are all part of what the president and the first lady are expected to pay for themselves.
We taxpayers pay for concerts in the White House. This is a justifiable expense.
Yes, everyone has to pay for their usage of electricity and water. The white house is not exempt of this.
The President does not pay rent in the White House. The President and first lady pay for their food, parties, vacations, butlers, housekeepers, and ushers. If they bring someone on Air Force One who isnâ??t in the official traveling delegation, they have to reimburse the American people the equivalent of a first-class flight.
All presidents receive an annual salary, courtesy of the taxpayers. Currently, it is $400,000 a year, which is what President Obama makes (so did President Bush). All presidents also receive an expense account for travel, entertainment, and eating out when they are performing their presidential duties. The president's meals at the White House are part of being president-- all presidents have to eat, and Mr. Obama is no exception. Many presidents have even hired an official White House chef, so they could have meals they personally enjoyed. Currently, the White House chef is Cristeta Comerford.
Marion Robinson, Michelle Obama's mother, did live in the White House during her daughter's tenure as First Lady, but it was reported that she did not receive a salary. The costs associated with her living there, including room and board, were covered by taxpayers, but specific figures on those costs vary. Estimates suggested it could be in the range of hundreds of thousands of dollars, primarily due to security and operational expenses. However, precise amounts are difficult to determine and not officially disclosed.
I am not sure what you want to know. The White House was built and is maintained with federal government funds ( tax-payers' money) .
nothing its free
If you mean when taking a tour then no. Obviously if you are invited to a White House function you will not have to pay at the time. ( You may have already paid a large amount in campaign donations in order to earn the invitation.)
At this point, he has not announced any trips to Guam, but that does not mean he won't pay a visit at some future time. The best way to find out his up-coming schedule is to go on the White House website. I enclose the link.
