Romania has some historical provinces: Muntenia, Oltenia, Banat, CriÅŸana, Transylvania, MaramureÅŸ, Moldova, Dobrogea, Bucovina.

The Northern part of Bucovina and the Southern part of Bessarabia are occupied now by the Ukrainian invaders - after the Ribbentrop-Molotov pact from August 1939.

The major part of Bessarabia is now a separate state called Moldova (do not confuse with the province Moldova from Romania).

With the help of Hitler Bulgarians invaded in 1940 the Southern Dobrogea.
