Do optical sata drives need a separate audio connection?

no, sata drives transfer all of the data through the sata cable

How hard is it to install an internal hard drive on a computer and what parts do you need in addition to the actual hard drive?

very easy, if its SATA you will need a sata data cable, and sata power cable(usually included with the power supply) also you might need a caddy (the thing the hard drive sits in) but there will probably be spares inside your computer. The most common thing you wont have is a SATA cable

Are SATA drives USB drives?

SATA (Serial ATA) drives are normal drives that use the SATA interface when connecting to a PC. A SATA cable is used to bridge the gap between the drive and the computers motherboard and a separate cable is used to provide power to the drive.USB, in a similar way to SATA, refers to an interface. It is possible to use a USB cable to connect a SATA drive to a USB port but only if you use an appropriate SATA-USB adapter. Most, if not all, external hard-drive kits, which may be sold as 'USB hard-drives', will contain a SATA drive inside a drive caddy with a USB cable connecting it to the PC. The caddy will already have the SATA-USB adapter built into it, negating the need to go and buy one yourself. Please don't try and wedge a USB cable straight into the back of a SATA drive as it will no doubt cause damage.

How to connect two hard drives and a dvdcdrw?

Check the motherboard. You can connect two drives to a single parallel cable. Most traditional motherboards have two IDE sockets and you can run a maximum of four drives. (one cable per socket, two drives per cable) but you need to configure the drives with jumpers as "primary" and "slave". Many of the newer motherboards have a "SATA" (Serial ATA) socket or some combination of SATA and IDE but you'd have to use a SATA drive with a SATA cable to use the SATA socket.

A jumper cover that is hanging on a single pin for safekeeping but is not being used to turn a jumper setting on?

This is a common practice. It causes no harm, and you have the jumper handy when you need it! It is called a Parked Jumper.

You could format two hard drives at same time but both need to be connected by the sata connector cable.

Do you have to connect the router to the computer?

If it is WIFI then you will need to connect it with the cable first to set up the passwords and access keys for wireless. Then, if you have a wireless card on your computer, you won't need the cable after setting it up.

How can you physically intall two hard-disk in the same computer?

If your HDs are the IDE type, then you need to either set one to master and one to slave, or use 'cable select' to do it automatically. When you bought your new HD, chances are that it is already in cable select mode, but you should check to make sure they both are before you continue. You can do this by looking to the right of the large series of pins where the data cable is connected. You should see some more pins, with a 'jumper' connectin two of them together. The position of the jumper sets the HD to whatever mode you want. Check on the back of the HD or in the manual to find out which position is cable select. When both drives are in cable select mode, put them both into the case mounting, preferably not too far apart, and screw them in. Then find the cable which was attached to the first drive. You'll see that it has 3 connectors: 1 in the motherboard, 1 in the middle and 1 at the end. Plug the end cable into your first HD (the one with the operating system on it) and the middle connector to your new HD. Finally, connect a power cable to both HDs. It doesn't matter which, just find a spare one. (They have 4 wires going to them: red black and yellow) Turn on your computer! Windows or your operating system should pick it up. With SATA hard drives it is easy: just plug the second one in at any spare SATA connector: the SATA connectors are thick pink wires. You'll also probably need a SATA power convertor which changes the standard power connectors to one for a SATA drive. You may need to change settings in your BIOS to tell the computer which drive has your OS on it, but that shouldn't be needed. If you do have to, hold DELETE when your system boots. You should find a blue screen with options on it. Look for something like "Advanced Config." -> "Boot order" and set your old HD to be before your new one. Press F10 to save and quit. I've linked to two sites which might help you: they have the same sort of guide but with pictures and a bit more detail.

Maximum Hdd's on motherboard with 4 SATA and IDE controler?

You can only have 1 Sata HDD per Sata connector, however on IDE you can have 2 IDE, 1 set to master the other to Slave or if supported both set to CSS (Cable Select). So you can have 4 Sata HDD and 2 IDE HDD per IDE channel. One thing you need to be aware of is your Power Supply. Make sure it is capable of handling such a load or you will get write errors on the Drives. Hope that helps.

Can SATA be connected to ATA?

Yes, technically speaking. You need an adapter (SATA to IDE converter) to do this. Google sata to ide converter and you'll find adapters starting around $15 bucks.

Can you plug sata discs into sata 2 connectors on motherboard?

Yes. You can add as many hard drives, or other sata devices (DVD burners etc) as will fit into your case, or until you have no more sata connectors free.
