Wild Life Adventures - 1996 World Without Dolphins was released on: USA: 1996
There are about 100,000 dolphins living in the world right now. Many of these dolphins are wild but some are kept in captivity.
Nobody owns the dolphins, like nobody owns the whales, dolphins are wild animals and are not owned by anybody.(unless they are in captivity.) ---- The current owners of the Miami Dolphins football team are Stephen Ross (majority owner) and Wayne Huizenga (minority owner).
Most dolphins feed on fish and squid, except killer whales (who are also dolphins) eat other marine mammals, sea turtles, and birds.
Yes, there are. Cetacean display facilities exploit dolphins and whales and the unsuspecting public which loves them. The demand to see and interact with these animals has led to the cruel confinement and deaths of many. Dolphins and whales are highly intelligent animals with specialized needs. Many dolphins are still hunted and captured from the wild in certain parts of the world (i.e. Japan and the Solomon Islands) to supply the captive dolphin industry. During capture dolphins suffer shock and stress: they are torn away from their families and removed from their lively natural surroundings. In the wild they travel many miles a day in search of food and mates while in captivity they are fed dead fish and housed in captive, sterile tanks. They are forced to perform tricks for the public and in some facilities, interact with the public which is completely unnatural for these wild animals. There are instances of dolphins behaving aggressively towards humans in these situations... In Taiji, Japan, dolphins and porpoises are driven into a shallow cove, where most are slaughtered and some are picked for lives in captivity. The money that hunters get from the captive dolphin industry essentially funds future hunts and keeps the process going. The hunts are so cruel that the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums and the U.S. Association of Zoos and Aquariums have condemned them however many facilities still source from them.
some dolphins are.
Yes they can be found in all the oceans of the world
The untrained killer whales in the wild are known not to kill people. They only kill their food which is squid, polar bears, seals, sea lions, walruses, manatees, maybe even other whales or sharks Also, killer whales are not whales are not whales. They are actually very large dolphins. They're called killer whales because they are very large predators.
Dolphins live in groups. Zebras, giraffes, elephants, meerkats, lions, wild dogs, and whales live in groups too. Good luck!!!
Whales and dolphins echolocate-emit clicking sounds that bounce off prey or objects in order to locate and identify them. Some scientists think that captive whales and dolphins do this much more than wild populations. Although all whales chatter up a storm to keep in contact with each other and to communicate (what, scientists don't know,) some whales may not use echolocation at all, but may find their prey simply by listening. The fact that sperm whales and right whales are struck by boats suggests they may not be using echolocation to avoid these large objects.
