I own a J.C. Higgins Model 583.23 sold by Sears. I was told it had a manufacture recall and Sears would pay $160.00 for the gun. My question is this correct and if so, how would I go about receiving the refund.
I ordered some boots from sears through the Horizon Gold store. Is my card going to pay for it.
They rarely sell for more than $100. Most of these have had the bolt stripped out and sold back to Sears due to an ongoing recall. Sears used to pay $160 per bolt (I myself sold several back to Sears over the years), but now that has changed to $60. sales@countrygunsmith.net These guns are rising fast in value due to the "questionable" recall by Sears. They are rapidly approaching $200.00 and climbing fast. Hold on to it and it will be worth really good money in a couple years, there are not many in good condition left.
Made for Sears by High Standard in the early 1950's. Bolt-action 12ga shotgun, also known as the High Standard Model 10. These guns were subject to a recall by Sears where they would pay $160 plus shipping for just the bolt; who knows how many of these shotguns are laying around there missing bolts.... Resale value is very minimal, and revolves mostly around selling the bolt back to Sears. Recent ownership changes at Sears has reduced the recall amount considerably, so retail value of these particular shotguns have suffered. sales@countrygunsmith.net

this gun was made in 1952 by High Standard for sears .There was a baseless recall by sears on this model by sears they are one of the best bolt action shotguns ever made . they a totally safe and reliable Sears is offering one of there almost worthless gift certificates for the bolt 50 sears bucks is about 100 dollars walmart money for the same products 583 20 was the most improved of the JC Higgins model 10 series they are truly good guns Their has been some limited interest in these guns lately I pay 100 to 150 dollars for them I own many . Gun dealers pay as little as they can for any thing . On the market depending who whants it and its condition it 50 to 150 dollars real dollars not Sears funny money .Dont let yoour old shotgun become a victim of a Sears antigun plot
"Yes, any appliance purchased at the Sears can be repaired at Sears appliance repair shop. It is free of charge as long as the appliance is within its warranty. Otherwise you have to pay for the repairing service."
If it has the bolt, it is worth about $60 which is the amount Sears will pay through their recall program on that shotgun. More input from FAQ Farmer Charles: "the gun was made in 1948 the 12 gauge models is getting scarce. In good condition and complete are woth between 75 and 100 dollars . JCHiggins collector like myself would pay more. I own one of these it has been in the family for more than fifty years it has been and still is one of the safest most reliable gun s I have ever owned. There was a bogus Recall by Sears of this gun they gave a fifty dollar gift card for the bolt which ruins the gun. I will pay 100 dollars for the bolt."
They can find out by adding an app to fb, but if I recall, you have to pay for the info.

Apply for a federal firearms license, pay the fees, and wait. You're required to have a store front, but that could be an online account on Gun Broker.
