I have been on Strattera for almost a year, while it did not do a whole lot my my add, it did cause me to loose over 70 pounds, size 14 to a size 4. I just stopped and tried Vyvanse, it worked great for 2 days, but a night my hunger was uncontrollable, going to continue with the Strattera. I am taking 100mg.

∙ 8y agoI've been taking Strattera for a little over two months. During the first week or two, I had some appetite reduction, but it has since leveled off. I am managing to maintain my current weight pretty easily. With that said, keep in mind that it likely effects people differently (like most drugs). BTW, I used to take Adderall years ago. It had much more of an appetite suppressing effect on me than Strattera has.

∙ 18y agoEveryone reacts differently to medications, but typically the side effect associated with Strattera when it comes to weight is a decreased appetite and potential weight loss because of it. Make sure to mention any questions such as this one to the physician who is prescribing the medication to you. Hope this helps! Dr. B.

∙ 12y agoMy experience has been different than what is submitted below. yes it caused significant weight loss but not nausea and vomiting. It seemed to clear my mind and slow down my adrenaline rush like behavior enough for me to think about the choices I was making food wise. I lost a LOT of weight while on strattera and have kept it off for 5 years now. I stopped taking the drug for a pregnancy also in that time. It helps so many things not just the nausea (which you may feel at first but it fades). It helps impulse control, nor epi-epi balance in the brain and allows for clear decision making for me anyway.

You lose weight because it makes you sick to your stomach. By that I mean, nauseated and vomitting. The higher the dose the worse you feel. Not worth it, if you ask me. Too expensive to be throwing up, for sure.
