Tewksbury-based Demoulas Supermarkets Inc., which has about 65 Market Basket stores in the region, decided last week to stop replenishing its stock of "pink slime" products, said David McLean, Market Basket operations manager. Even though there's been no food-safety recall of the product, "we have customers that have concerns and we want them to be satisfied," he said.

∙ 10y agoSome does, but there are moves in several states and countries to restrict its use. "Pink slime" is animal connective tissue and organ linings (not muscle tissue) that is labeled as "lean finely textured beef" but there continue to be legal questions as to whether it can be called "beef" at all.

Does Sam's Club sell ground beef with pink slime?
Sams Club / Wal-Mart announced March 22, 2012 that it would no longer sell ground beef with the additive known as "pink slime". This is just not true for the Sam's club in Dallas. I went in this saturday April 6th and I spoke with the meat department directly and he told me that they dont call it pink slime but yes its in their meat and it is perfectly healthy. This disturbed me because every post online says they dont carry it but they are selling it. Sam's offered no alternative.
