04 Yamaha raptor 660 idle problems?
adjust your idle screw on the side of the carb its the one with the spring on it. if that doesnt help then take the carb apart and clean it to make sure theres no dirt in it.
What could make my 86 Chevy 350 motor die when i let off the gas i have soaked the carb changed the plugs adjusted the idle screw can t find any vacuum leaks any ideas at all?
Sounds like you still have carb issues. You say you soaked the carb, was the carb disassembled, parts soaked, cleaned, and reassembled with a carb rebuild kit? If not, that is what you need to do.

First, open it up VERY carefully making sure not to lose anything. I would do this on a surface where parts will not get lost. Make sure you use the right size screwdrivers as not to strip the bolts and screws. Inspect. If very dirty, buy a carb rebuild kit they are around $25.00 and are worth it. Open all vents/jets. You will need small screwdrivers. Take everything plastic off so it doesn't get destroyed in carb cleaner. Soak in carb in cleaner for a few hours- be careful not to get anything foreign in the carb. Reassemble carefully. I would go to You tube- there is a demo on the site.

I`ve found that in any vehicle if you can pour gas down the carb to make it run and you know the fuel pump is working (plenty of gas to the carb) than the diaphragm in the carb must have a small hole or crack which makes it loose pressure. If you rebuild the carb there will be one in the kit. Bad needle/seat valve? Float not adjusted properly?

The critical components to replace are the needle valve and seat. The other rebuild tip is to make sure all the passages are clear from gum and or corrosion. You will be surprised how many carb problems are simply a blocked passage. Make sure to replace the choke shaft seal as this wears and allows air to flow into the engine which will lean the mixture at or near idle. Other than that, see if you can find a diagram of the carb, then disassemble the carb, noting the component position. If you have to use snack plastic bags to contain the parts in groups. Do all your work in a clean, well lighted area, with small containers for the parts.

Turn gas off, remove carb. Take bottom of carb off via 4 screws. This called the bowl. Check to make sure float moves freely, is so, leave it alone. Take the keys out and soak them for ten mins in near boiling water and carb cleaner. Then take small stiff wire and make sure all the holes on the side of the jet tube are not obstructed. Do the same for the jet it self. U should be able to see through it. Also soak the carb overnight in carb cleaner. If the jets can not be cleared buy a carb rebuild kit for $15

Make sure your float is not gummed with old fuel (Varnish), also make sure your needle valve seats off, when the carb is full (no leaks). It sounds to me like the engine is flooding out (aka too much fuel, GAS) Depending on what carb you have it could be that the Fuel Bowl floats are stuck or else they have become saturated and no longer float. Either way it sounds like you need a carb rebuild kit with new floats. You will have to take the carb off the engine, make sure you mark all the vacum lines etc with masking tape and magic marker (makes it so much easier going back on) once you have the carb off invest in a couple of cans of carb cleaner and using the rebuild kit follow the instructions to replace , Fuel floats, gaskets etc.
