i believe back then 1 ton trucks were exempt from smog rules...I remember if you had a 1 ton u didn't need to get it smogged. I have a lazy daze class c with this chassis and it does not have the converter on it. I believe the original owner had dual exhaust put on right after buying it new.
If the vehicle came from the factory with a catalytic converter is illegal to remove it. It will also not run properly without the catalytic converter install.
There are two. The upstream screws into the catalytic converter. The downstream is in the pipe after the catalytic converter.
from the motor, you have exhaust headers, then going down u have cat converter, which is look slike awidend portion of the pipe, then the resonator, ( long cylinder on the pipe) and then the mufflers.
Your catalytic converter is at the top of your motor at the exhaust manifold take out the 4 14mm screws that connect your converter to your manifold drop down out the bottom of engine and replace another really simple fix

You need to take it to a Repair shop and have them scan the computor. A lean condition will cause it and will also damage the catalytic converter.
most likely the converter is plugged up and caused a leak in the flex pipe
It is located behind the motor, if you go underneath your Caravan follow the exhaust to motor, you will see one o2 sensor first then you will see the catalytic converter. Then up at the end of the catalytic converter on the exhaust manifold you will see it. It is between the engine and the catalytic converter.
Rough idle... Higher then normal tempatures under operation. Bucking or loss of RPM pulling a hill, Loss of MPG .. Smell of Rotten eggs all signs of bad Cat.
A damaged catalytic converter could cause that.
Could be a plugged fuel filter or a plugged catalytic converter.
i have a 2002 and if you get under the van and follow the muffler from back to the motor you will find it. It should be in front or behind the catalytic converter. There are two, one in front and one behind the catalytic converter.
