Yes it needs spark plugs and wires. I own a 1992 Buick Roadmaster and had to replace plugs and wires recently. Not that expensive, I bought AC Delco plugs and wires. I had a discount as well. Be sure you know what your doing, which one is which I change them one at a time so not to mix up wires and the last on on the left side is a pain, the last two. Change them every 50,000 miles. Or less.

To change the spark plug wires on a 97 Buick LeSabre, first pull the wires loose from the plugs. After these are removed, pull the wires loose from the opposite end and replace them.
it is very time consuming to do this. it is imperative that you follow the original routing of the wires from the optispark disstributor to the designated plug. it will be easier to reach the plugs and wires in certain areas if you raise the front end and remove the front wheels. best idea is to only do this one wire at a time good luck
