According to all sources I could find they did not come "stock" with CR-V's in that year and any that were so-equipped were done as an after-market addition. Subsequent model years (2006+) show that they were installed in the rear drainplug of the block just a little behind the oil filter location. Remove the threaded drain plug, and it installs in that hole. The power cord is lashed up and runs to the front of the vehicle.

The 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe does not have a factory block heater option. Beginning in 2009 there is a port to install a Hyundai manufactured block heater for cars built for sale in Canada. Pre-2009 requires a heater to go in a freeze-plug hole, so the cord is wherever the installer put it, usually behind grille.

I would recommend one if you live in Maine, or the Dakotas, or any of the northern tier of states - or anywhere in Canada. The advantage of a block heater is that your oil won't solidify in the winter, and your car will "warm up" more quickly.

The heater coil and a heater core is the same thing. Hot water circulates from the engine and through the heater core then back to engine generating heat for your heater system.
