No Canadians have no rights to be exempted fron any U.S. Tax owed or that need to be collected on any sales activity in the state
There is no U.S./Canada Tax Treaty on the books that would give a Canadian any such rights other than an aboriginalNative Idian and the Tax Treaty says they can only receive the rights and privileges bestowed to American peoples following the same rights and privileges of the particular state.
Therefore it follows - Canadoans have specific rights or privileges nor do they have the ability to get reimbursed in Canada.
So becareful as there always peopel trying to take advantage of others and leaving you holding the bag in this case the tax liability for not having a purchaser paying their share

Taxes are paid in California at the time you register the car with the Department Of Motor Vehicles. You do not pay tax to the person you are buying from.
