yes.
Gears
No its all connected by gears.
Engine code X22DTH This engine is fitted with a timing chain
At about 51000 miles for 1.8 petrol
All Vauxhall 2.2 petrol engines in Astra and Zafira have a chain. The Sintra and the Omega are belt driven as they were fitted with what was in effect a bored out version of the X20XEV which was belt driven.
This is Not a chain Nor a belt if it is the 2.5TDS. This engine is timed using 'geared pulleys' just like a Gearbox. There is no requirement for adjustment or replacement of anything to do with timing. If it is anything other than this It will more than Likely be a chain if it's diesel or belt if it is the vauxhall petrol engine depending on the size of the engine. I have a 1998 2.5 TDS LWB Frontera which doesn't require either!
Its a belt but its the rollers that fail check out www.v6technicians.co.uk they know all bout this engine It has a timing belt. Only some diesels or the 2.2 petrol Vectra's have timing chains.
Which engine?
it is recommended that timing belts on petrol vauxhalls be changed every 40,000 miles
Belt :)
Timing belts normally changed every 60,000 miles but if just aquired the car best to get a new one on for peace of mind
