How do you remove the immobilizer from a 1995 Frontera Sport?

== == == == Simply put: "you can't" Long winded version:

The immobiliser function is built into the car in two ways. Firstly, there is an immobiliser ECU (Electronic Control Unit) normally situated on the steering column behind the ignition switch, that also incorporates a "reader coil" that reads the serial number off of the immobiliser chip in the ignition key. This ECU reads the chip number, and if the number it gets from the chip matches one of the numbers it expects, tells the fuel-injection ECU words to the effect of "Chip Recognised".

Secondly, the Fuel injection ECU will allow the engine to continue to run after you have stopped cranking the engine only if it has received the "chip recognised" signal from the immobiliser ECU.

The system has been designed to make it VERY hard to bypass, as if it was easy, it would not work well as an anti theft system.

You would probably need to re-wire the fuel injection system to work using a fuel injection ECU from a car that was built before 1995 (when the system came into use) that had the same engine as the Frontera.

This will be far more expensive and time consuming that just buying a new key and getting it programmed to the car.

Would a faulty kickdown cable prevent gear change above 2nd gear?

I believe so..tahts what my dad found in my car..and we're working to fix it...because it will shift once above 4500 rpm..but only because of pressure in the transmission....causeing it to naturally shift as if you we're flooring it.

this one of the best answers ive seen on here hes actually 100% corect in this answer, altough there are other senarios that can create this same condition

Why is your frontera 2.3 td so slow?

Because it's a big heavy 4WD vehicle fitted with an engine too small & under-powered for it.

Have you checked small pipe from inlet manifold to injector pump, if it's split, repair then hold on tight...

Vauxhall 2.2 frontera idle running erratic cleaned idle control valve and intake still the same help?

If this is the Eco Tech Vauxhall Engine then it will either be the EGR Valve (Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valve) or the Mass Air Flow Meter. It's worth disconnecting the Mass Air Flow Meter when it is reving and see if this alters the revs if not then I would suggest cleaning the EGR Valve as they get clogged up with black soot and subsequently alters the air to fuel mixture as would the Mass Air Flow!

Where is the IAT sensor located on a Vauxhall Frontera?

i think it's in the mass air flow meter

== == If you meant the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor, it is either built into the Mass air flow sensor, as suggested above, or a separate sensor in the induction air piping not far from it.

How do you change the bulbs for the heating display on a 1996 Vauxhall Frontera estate?

If you pull the buttons off of the heater control sliders you can get a medium sized flat blade screwdriver between the edge of the heater control fascia and the main part of the dashboard, this will pop out and you will see the small bulb in its housing. Hope this helps :)

How do you disable the passenger airbag on a vauxhall frontera?

the only way you can disable a passenger air bag on a frontera is by replacing the airbag ECU (electronic control unit) which itself cost £500 the new unit then needs to be programmed not to recognise the passenger air bag which can only be done by a dealer. this action in itself raises many legal issues and many dealers would advise against such an action as you are changing the original safety specifications of the car. most dealers will request a letter from you, your insurance company and a solicitor exonerating them from any consequenses should an accident occur. there are then the legal consequences to yourself should you sell on the vehicle in a non standard condition honest advice-- leave well alone robb

Transmission Fluid

Vauxhall Frontera

How do you change transmission fluid on vauxhall frontera?

Look in your Haynes Manual for the type of oil to fill it up with (typically it is the same for the engine(in the frontera, owning one myself)). Get down and look up at the bottom side of the car. There will be a large medium gray metallic ribbed object. this is the transmission or gearbox as it is commonly known. There will be a threaded(screwed) plug on the bottom, perhaps not at the very bottom of the unit, and another plug somewhere on the side of it, perhaps halfway up. You may need a plug removing tool as it typically has a recessed square socket. Clean both plugs so that rust and dirt don't enter the gearbox. Remove the side plug first and then position a container under the bottom plug and remove the bottom plug. (By removing the side plug you willl help flow of old oil out of the gearbox by letting air in to replace it.) Oil will now pour out of the bottom hole. Remember to dispose of it correctly. Once it has stopped replace the bottom plug making sure it is secure. Take an oil syringe or pump(whatever you have) and start pumping oil back in through the side plug. Once you put too much in, the oil will pour back out the side plug. This is how you know that it is at the right level. Replace the side plug making sure it is secure. Take your car for a test run taking care to notice vibration or noise (or the lack of it as the case should hopefully be). It is good practice to check the level after a week to ensure that it is still nominal. Ensure that you refill the gearbox with the car horizontal otherwise you may refill it to the wrong level. If you don't have a haynes manual i suggest that you get one and if any of the instructions in it deviate from this answer then follow the book. And remember always work safely.

What causes Vauxhall frontera diesel occasional misfire?

Probably find its somethin to do with the injectors. I would try and clean the injectors. If you remove the fuel filter (which should be attached to the bulk head) and replace it with a new 1 but before putting the new one on buy some Diesel Injector Cleaner should be around £7 for a bottle. tip this Injector Cleaner directly into the fuel filter and screw it on to the carrier. If you have a diesel primer, manually prime the filter until it gets really hard to push/squeeze. You then know the filter is full. Start the engine and let it run for 2 to 3 mins if it cuts out prime it some more (should be soft again). Once you've done that it should tick over okay. Now you need to give you car a blast up the nearest National speed limit road there is to force the cleaner through which might smoke a little to start with but once you've done that for 5 mins or so, you should be Missfire free providing it is the injectors and if it still missfires the chances are it could be a faulty injector valve which would require a replacement of all injectors. Hope this helps

Why does your frontera lose power after 50 miles down the motorway at 70 miles per hour but when you stop the engine and start again its ok till another 50 miles?

First thoughts: this looks like a fuel flow problem. Symptoms like this have been associated with blocked fuel tank breather vents, which can cause a buildup of vacuum in the tank which causes fuel starvation (the fuel pump has to pump against vacuum as well as its usual force). The vent may be in the tank cap, or may be a separate breather vent.Other things to check include the fuel filter for restrictions. Or, then again, it could just be overheating! could be air flow meter on its way out needs replacing. make sure part numbers match if buying second hand you actually need oil check it I bet its very low my Zafara did and the AA came out and told me this happens when the engine over heats with lack of oil he filled it with oil and it never happend again make sure you have a vented fuel cap fitted *Just to expand a little on the third answer, the reason that low oil level can cause power loss on some engines is that the hydraulic tappets lose pressure. This then causes only partial opening of the valves, greatly restricting the engines breathing. The level does not have to be dangerously low for this to happen.

How do you put a ball joint back together on a 1993 frontera drive shaft too close to tap into place?

you need to release the drive shaft to give clearance to fit the ball joint................PS *I think the vauxhall method is to remove the anti-roll bar link and shock absorber from the lower arm, then remove the lower arm from the chassis to give you more movement on the ball joint. The driveshaft can then be left undisturbed.
