You should look under your vehicle while its running. If you haven't noticed a puddle of coolant on the drive way, you may have a bad head/gasket. Does the car smoke? If it does, your head gasket is gone. Check your engine oil. If it looks like muddy water on the dipstick, you've got coolant mixed with the engine oil. If you see coolant on the ground, you may have a bad water pump. First, check your radiator hoses. Remember to check the hoses going into the heater core as well.
hi the black smoke is your injectors should get them checked out.
if they are the electrical 1s, they charge to test them, if they the non machincal version its free to test them.
Most probable cause is the drive cable between gearbox and speedo has broken.
Is the EML light on? If so, get the codes read. You will probably find that number 1 injector is faulty. This has a sensor fitted in it and is a common fault with the 2.5.

There is a TDC sensor on the front of the gearbox bell housing of most 306 Diesel models (up to MY '99 I believe) Neil
On a run you can expect around 28 to 32 mpg. For mainly short stop start trips you get as low as 20 mpg.
The IAT sensor is built into the mass air flow sensor. You can find it in the air duct between the engine inlet and air filter.

Could be a partially plugged fuel filter. Gets enough fuel to idle but not enough to work.
Hello, a few weeks ago my fronty developed a big fuel leak from the lines on top of the fuel pump. Bit of a pain to get to, had to drop out the fuel tank etc... taking out the pump wasn't too hard, and so, if you can find one, it shouldn't be a too bigger job. When raising/mounting the tank again, it's a good idea to make the fuel lines a little longer whilst you're there because trying to re-attach them is a pain in the bum. Bud.
