I can only assume you mean claiming the child on your taxes. If you pay child support on a child and claim that child on your taxes, you are committing tax fraud. You can only claim a child on your taxes if you are providing most of his support and that includes he has to be living with you for most of the tax year.

How much a father pays does not necessarily relate to him claiming the child on his tax return. You need to review your court orders. They should address who gets to claim the child as a dependent for tax purposes. If not set forth in the order then check your state laws. Most states provide that the custodial parent gets to claim the child for all of the reasons set forth above.

If a father is not paying child support does he still have rights?

In general, visitation and child support are separate matters. However, if you aren't paying support, you might reasonably expect some resistance from the custodial parent about visitation! But of the two, denying a child a father is far more damaging and costly to the child and society in general. see link below

As a father who pays child support do I have a say in my child's religion?

As a father if you have sole physical custody of your child you can ask the court to have your ex, pay child support to you, and the same would go for her. It is who ever has the most physical custody of the child and also if that person asks the court for child support payments. Answer #2 Yes you do have a say in your child's religion if you have any legal custody of your child. Find out through your court more information about this.
