If they were droplets, it from the female. Its what happens when they are in heat. The female shouldn't bleed at all unless the dogs are extremely miss matched like a chauwawa and a great dane. He will stay swollen inside her once they connect until his boner goes down. Normally once he gets it from her once and she's impregnanted he should leave her alone. Nature is fixed in such a way that they just know when it takes and he should leave her alone.
