Warped rotors
Front wheel shudder could come from worn tires, bad brakes, or worn front end components. Check all of these to find the cause of the shudder.
not usually. warped rotors will cause a vibration during braking.
warped rotor
replace front brake rotors and pads.
what would cause a rubbing noise on drivers side front wheel especially when braking ( I replaced rotor and wheel bearings are good) ?
wheel bearing
Could be, loose lug nuts on front left wheel, a damaged left front brake rotor, a bad left front hub/bearing assembly, a worn/damaged CV axle joint,
To the FRONT of the vehicle
a very specific range for a shudder is either from worn front end parts or unbalanced tires. The tires should be speed balanced and the front end should be checked for worn parts.
What percent of braking are front wheels responsible
Worn brake pads or a defective wheel bearing. If it only growls under braking it is the pads. If it growls all the time and more so when making a turn it is the wheel bearing. Inspect your brake pads/rotor and wheel bearings if necessary.
